1. Cookies
The public pages of this website (https://www.ncat.co.jp) use no cookies at all. No cookie is ever set on the pages you browse. (The administrative screens, used only by our own staff, do use a session cookie to keep the operator signed in. Those screens are not public and no cookie from them is set by browsing the site.)
Nor do we embed any third-party script โ no external analytics service such as Google Analytics, no advertising network, no social media tracking tag. Visiting this site does not send any record of your browsing to a third party.
2. Our own analytics
To improve the site we run our own analytics, entirely within our own server. None of the data collected is passed to an outside company. We record the following.

| Display faults | Errors that occur in the browser while a page is shown: the message, the file and position where it happened, and the technical trace the browser produces. Used to fix faults. |
| Page speed | Measures of display quality, such as how long a page takes to appear and how much it shifts while loading. Used to improve pages. |
| Pages not found | When a request arrives for a URL that does not exist: the path, the domain that linked to it, and the browser type. Used to find broken links. |
| Campaign identifiers | Identifiers we attach to links we distribute (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign). Used to see which announcement brought you here. |
To tell visitors apart we use a string derived from the IP address and browser type combined with a secret value that changes every day, transformed so that it cannot be reversed. The IP address itself is never stored. (For crawlers such as search-engine robots we do record the originating IP address, so that we can check how the site is being indexed. It is never part of a record of a human visit.) Because the string differs from one day to the next, the same person cannot be followed across days.
3. How long we keep records
We delete records as they pass the following ages.
- Page views and speed measurements โฆโฆ 400 days
- Display faults, pages not found, recorded actions โฆโฆ 180 days
- Crawler records โฆโฆ 400 days (IP addresses within them, 30 days)
Records of our own staff signing in to the admin screen are kept for one year, so that unauthorised access can be investigated.
4. Switching measurement off
If you have Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control enabled in your browser, we do not measure your visit at all.
If you are visiting from Europe, we do not measure your visit. For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, the ePrivacy Directive requires consent before information is stored on your device for analytics. Rather than interrupt your reading with a consent banner, we have chosen not to run analytics at all for visits from those regions. We determine this from your device's timezone.

5. What is stored in your browser
Although we set no cookies, we store the following items โ and nothing else โ in your browser, to remember your language and for the analytics described above.

None of these contains information that identifies you.
Of these, only ncat.sid is transmitted to our servers, where it is used to group the records of a single visit. The date held in ncat.first and the ncat.noStat setting are never transmitted to us. Only whether you are a first-time or returning visitor is sent; the date itself never leaves your browser.
6. Deleting what is stored
You can delete these items at any time through your browser's settings ("clear site data", "clear browsing data" and similar). Once deleted, your next visit will again be directed according to your browser's language setting.
7. Server access logs
The server hosting this site records access logs โ IP address, date and time, the URL requested, browser type and similar โ for maintenance and for detecting unauthorised access. We use them for no other purpose, and we do not use them to identify individuals.
8. The contact form
On the enquiry form we hold, temporarily and only on screen, a signed value recording when the form was shown, to prevent automated submissions. It is not stored persistently in your browser and is lost when you leave the page.
To prevent a large number of submissions in a short time, we record the time of each submission on the server for one hour. That record is keyed to a value from which the sender cannot be recovered (your IP address combined with a secret of ours and converted irreversibly). The IP address itself is not stored.
What you send is delivered to our staff by email, containing your name, email address, subject, message and the time of sending. We keep it in order to respond to your enquiry and to record it.
9. Our applications
How our applications handle information is governed by our Privacy Policy rather than by this policy. Within an application, a third-party provider may use an advertising identifier in order to serve advertisements.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change what the analytics records, or introduce any outside service, we will update this page to explain it before doing so.
